Child Safety Seats in Emergency Vehicles

Did you know motor vehicle injuries are the leading cause of death among children ages 1-13 in the United States? Unfortunately, many of these deaths can be prevented. Transporting a child without the use of a safety seat, booster seat, or seat belt is the leading reason why injuries occur. It is critically important to choose and use the right car seat correctly every time a child is in a vehicle.

Ambulances are no exception. Children are often on-scene at an accident, requiring transport. In an industry hyper focused on first response and emergency care, it should be a top priority to protect its youngest riders on the road.

The trusted name in ambulance child restraint systems since 1993

To address this problem, EVS Ltd brought to market the first ambulance child restraint system in 1993. EVS 1850, also known as the Hi-Bac Safety Seat, will safety transport uninjured children between 20-65 pounds. It features a five-point safety harness built in to the attendant seat back. This is a unique feature because it allows for multi-purpose seating as either an adult seat or child seat. It was the industry leader in ambulance child restraint systems then… and continues to be the standard other manufacturers benchmark against.

We have six different integrated child seat options

Today, we offer six different integrated child seat options for Type I, Type II, and Type III ambulance models. All of our ambulance child restraint systems are tested to safely transport uninjured children between 20 and 65 pounds without having to add any additional type of altered seating. Our integrated child seats can be produced using seamless, vac-form vinyl for fast, easy and thorough disinfection between service calls. In addition, they offer superior comfort for attendants with molded foam for lumbar support and a durable ABS seat back.

We also offer an option for ambulance infant transport.

Along with our integrated child seats, we offer lower anchorages for infant carrier transport. This anchorage bar can be installed in our integrated child seats and allows a third-party infant car seat to be safely secured to the anchors in the attendant seat for transport.
